The Paula retrain previously teased back in June has been revealed for August 23rd's daily twitter reveal!

This new level 1 Genesis Summoner expands the archetype's options by allowing more units to be materials, and opening new options for summoning targets!

Magical School Prodigy Paula is a doozy of a Genesis Summoner with a truckload of positive traits! First on the list, her stat distribution sacrifices the STK a Genesis Summoner doesn't need for 3 HP, so she won't be easily removed by cards like Malevolus Prime, Crimenauts Don and Suppressive Fire.

Next up, her potent ability. The ability from the original iteration of Paula, Golden Ringdancer Paula, had several issues, some stemming from the original small starting hand of 11. K - Knight, but others stemming from needing to discard before seeing your new draw. Magical School Prodigy Paula greatly improves on this by only requiring you to discard after choosing whether or not to take a card from the top 3. The restriction to level 1 or lower isn't a real issue either, as all the units you'd want to dig for to either support Paula's Genesis Summon or discard for Shiori Laudia, Imperial Magus, The Floating Lantern Festival, or Tractor Beam to bring back later. An especially fantastic target is the new Cat Monk, who you can grab with Paula's effect, discard to instantly summon, and then Genesis Summon a level 2!

Lastly, we have Paula's actual Genesis Summoning effect, which opens up a ton of new options for the deck. First, it allows the use of Dragon materials, which allows more effective Level climbing than before, something incredibly desirable with the recent introduction of Level 4 units, especially on a Level 1 Genesis Summoner, as they're the Summoners you're most likely to have the resources left for after a previous Genesis Summon or a Cost Reduced Superior Unit. Other useful applications include turning Vavelsion, the War Veteran into another unit after exhausting its DR ability, or returning other Genesis Summoning targets you drew or previously Genesis Summoned to the deck for later use. That last application is particularly great for Legendary Dragons like Magvarius, Grand Dragon Pentarch of Inferno.

The second part of Paula's Genesis Summoning ability is that it allows you to summon Deity units. While the targets for this are currently limited, adding Konohanasakuya-hime, a Level 4 that draws 2 on play, to your targets is already enough to make this aspect of Paula very noteworthy.

All in all, Paula is an incredible Genesis Summoner that greatly expands the plays Genesis Summoning has access to!
