3 New Legends & Abyss+Genesis Support!

Posted on 7th December, 2020 at 4:49pm CST
Our 1st influencer reveal for December 6th comes from a video from Ponpoko Miyamoto, and reveals both Yomajin Front Unit "Dragon-type Battle Weapon, Aramisaki" and Wonderverse Unit "Solar System Backpacker"!

Dragon-type Battle Weapon "Aramisaki"
Card Number: 2020GB02-066 ★★★★
Faction: Yomajin Front
Card Type: Unit
Level: 3
Attribute(s): Dragon, Military
Attack: 5
HP: 5
Strike: 2
Effect: ■ Damage dealt to you becomes 1.
■ "Magical Core Cannon" Normal: [Put an event card from your field to your cemetery] Choose 1 enemy unit, and deal 4 damage to it.
Flavor Text: In response to the people's prayers, activate the machine dragon, Aramisaki!!

First is the 2nd of a currently known 9 Dragon-type Battle Weapons! While its stats are a bit on the lower end for a Level 3, it comes packed with 2 potent effects! First up, it reduces all damage dealt to you to 1. The obvious application of this is similar to Mr. Dead Language, forcing your opponent to attack into your Aramisaki in the attack zone, which allows you to take full advantage of Yomajin Front's combat tricks!

However, the really interesting use of this effect is with Haunting, where it is able to lower the self-damage it will deal. With this you could much more safely take advantage of Haunting to get up to 70 Level Limit under Apprentice or Highlander. In addition, Aramisaki's combination of Military and Dragon gives it multiple options for consistency boosters to get into play, being able to use both Volnar's Genesis Summoning or Wonderverse's Emergency Combination.

Lastly, we have Aramisaki's 2nd effect "Magical Core Cannon", which plays into the combat trick synergy of Aramisaki's 1st effect. Magical Core Cannon allows you to convert your events into more immediate value with a powerful removal effect. Remember that Busterkong gets the same amount of effect damage with a [TD], so it really should not be understated how much 4 effect damage is. Allowing you to convert excess events or events that may be too expensive for you to play any time soon.

Overall, Aramisaki has the makings of a very potent boss unit, that synergizes with all of Yomajin Front's goals very well.

Solar System Backpacker
Card Number: 2020GB01-101
Faction: Wonderverse
Card Type: Unit
Level: 1
Attribute(s): Futuremen
ATK: 4
HP: 4
STK: 1
Effect: Normal: [Destroy 1 card on your field] Normal summon this from your damage zone. You take 1 damage.
Flavor Text: Distance in Wonderverse is determined by your "image". You can take 2 days to get to Mars, 3 days to get to Mercury, and go around the solar system in a week.

The 2nd reveal, Backpacker, is also a fascinating unit with plenty of applications. The most obvious is how it allows you to increase the value on your board. After having played a unit like Christel or Ed and getting its on play effect, you can convert it into Backpacker's better stats, and since its coming from your damage zone, its actually neutral in card advantage. However, remember that it is a normal summon, which costs energy and summon cap, so its definitely a card that fits better in Apprentice.

Since it needs to be in the damage zone to be used, Backpacker existing gives more value to the CNT ability of Schrodinger's Cat, though its overall still pretty neat. However, that interaction does make me wonder if the Futuremen attribute is a damage focused theme? While this is the first to directly play with it, Schrodinger's Cat could be a card meant for Futuremen, and Magic Innovator indirectly interacts by setting up more CNTs in your deck.

And of course, what is probably the most powerful aspect of the card, the extra damage you take. Of course, not taking a new damage would be better, but it would definitely need to be weakened in other areas for that. As it currently is, its still very valuable, as it still increases your opportunities to get CNTs and get a real heal. With the 16 CNT limit of all current Rulers, this will happen about a third of the time by default, and this can be increased further if you combined it with ATLAS scry effects!

Overall, a very unique card with a lot of potential.

Our 2nd and last influencer reveal of the day comes to us in a video from Suzuki which brings us our 1st Legend Card since Magvarius! Its the Yomajin Front Legend Unit "Captain Omyger"!

Captain Omyger
Card Number: 2020GB01-062 ★★★★L
Faction: Yomajin Front
Card Type: Unit
Level: 3
Attribute(s): Awakened Being, Warrior, Hero
ATK: 5
HP: 5
STK: 3
Effect: [CNT] Use the [OD] of this.
[OD] "Mach 883353+ Attack" Choose 1 enemy unit, and destroy it.
Flavor Text: The manga artist, Sakura Maekawa, has transformed into the main character of his own manga. However, due to the eccentric setting and the fatal flaws in his design sense, the future will be difficult... (From Yuichi Hasegawa's work "Studio Secret Base Theater")

While pretty basic, Omyger is undeniably powerful. Hard removal is valued very highly, with Events like Destiny Sword costing 3 to get the same with no on board body, and otherwise you find it on cards that require set-up like Vastorus Rex. The closest direct comparison to this card is Liar Moon who can destroy an enemy unit if Destiny Sword is in your cemetery. But by comparison, Omyger is getting much a whole 5 extra stat points due to his 2 higher STK, and Omyger also gets the effect on CNT.

Comparing it to Magvarius, while he does have lower stats, and can't be activated via TD or special summon, and his removal has a lower ceiling, but his floor is much higher. Depending on the type of player you are, that floor may be more important, especially within the hand-less Apprentice. At least with Knight, as long as Magvarius is drawn and not damaged, you can save its use until the perfect moment. Under Apprentice, however, that isn't an option. You will lose access to your only copy if you don't activate it then and there. On the other hand, Omyger will always at least take out an opposing unit. When it comes to particularly large units like Vastorus Rex or Grand Galac, it can take until you're half dead for Magvarius to be able to remove them, where as Omyger will be able to even on the first turn.

In this way, you can see how each of these Legends have their own strengths that make each a powerful choice.

Next, the first December 7th influencer reveal comes to us through a video by Bisyamon Soiya, its the 2nd Volnar Legend Card, the Event Card, "Blaster Vortex"!

Blaster Vortex
Card Number: 2020GB01-002 ★★★★L
Faction: Volnar
Card Type: Event
Level: 2
Attribute(s): Forbidden Spell
Effect: Use Timing: Set this, and you may play it when an enemy unit attacks.
■ Destroy all enemy units in the row except the center line.
Flavor Text: Its certain that Volnar once had a powerful civilization, as the relics of numerous "forbidden spirit engines" tell us. Did they get wiped out, or did they "go somewhere"?

Since we had already been told this would be akin to Mirror Force, the effect doesn't come as any surprise, only activating when an enemy unit attacks, and destroy all attack zone units! A very powerful tool for any defensive deck that needs time to set up, like Magvarius, as unless your opponent took out your defensive zone via effect, with their units gone, the opposing Ruler will be able to get through your defensive zone to attack you directly! In essence, Blaster Vortex will often earn you a free turn.

However, there's a very interesting implication in the mention of "rows". Currently, all Rulers only have 1 row of units, but this syntax heavily implies that later Rules that gain new unit zones will get them in a separate row from their default. Would these multiple row Rulers also get a 2nd defensive zone? Food for thought. It is actually just saying front row, though this still implies that back row, where the Set Zones currently are, can be Unit zones under some Rulers.

The other reveal for December 7th is yet another Legend! This one comes from a Hitsoru Yotsuba livestream. Its ATLAS's GB01 Legend Unit "Captain Liberty"!

Captain Liberty
Card Number: 2020GB01-031 ★★★★L
Faction: ATLAS
Card Type: Unit
Level: 2
Attribute(s): Awakened Being, Hero, Military
Attack: 5
HP: 4
Strike: 2
Effect: ■ "United States Forever" Normal: [Banish 3 cards with [CNT] from your cemetery] Special summon this from your hand or cemetery.
[Defender]
Flavor Text: Awakened Beings. They are mankind's defense.

Of all the Legends, this is the one that has impressed me the most personally! The others have been high value removal cards, which are of course very good, but its nothing unique. They're more efficient for sure, but you're not getting any kind of effect you can't get elsewhere. Captain Liberty is completely different! Captain Liberty provides free value to your board starting the moment it hits your hand or cemetery, and is able to do so regardless of what type of Ruler you are. Unlike other Legends, its not one-and-done either, and will come back again once you're 3 CNTs deeper.

The one major pitfall is getting stuck in damage, but there are ways around this. Schrodinger's Cat can pull it out with either its Main or CNT effect. In addition, there's a card we'll be discussing later which allows you to pull Level 2 or lower Military cards out of your damage, so that will also allow you to get Liberty into play.

However, it still is not some end-all be-all. Certain strategies have some bad anti-synergy with Captain Liberty. The most prominent of these is Darkness. Most of your CNTs will be Darkness cards, so you'll want to keep them in your cemetery to pay for [Abyssal Concerto], and removing them with Liberty will screw up your core strategy. Outside of rare decks like this, however, Captain Liberty seems like one of the most reliably valuable Legend Cards.

And our last influencer reveal to cover is the first of the December 8th cards! Revealed by this video by K, we have two new cards for the Genesis Summoning archetype!

Marriage of Gold Rings, Paula
Card Number: 2020GB01-009 ★★★
Faction: Volnar
Card Type: Unit
Level: 1
Attribute(s): Wizard
ATK: 2
HP: 1
STK: 1
Effect: [TD] Discard 1 card from your hand. If you do, draw 1 card.
[Genesis Summoning] Normal: Use this & 1 or more «Wizard» or «Warrior» units as material and put them to the bottom of your deck, and special summon 1 «Dragon» or «Warrior» unit from your deck whose Level is equal or lower than the total Level of the materials.
Flavor Text: I'll connect. Everyone's feelings.

Paula is the secondary Genesis Summoner. Its significantly worse than Shiori, as it doesn't get itself a Familiar from cemetery, its lower level means you have to work harder for your Summons, and only 1 HP makes it much easier to disrupt. However, a second summoner is needed for the strategy to function, so Paula at least provides that.

Of course, Paula also has a filter effect with her TD. In addition to helping you get to good materials, this is very useful for Abyssal Summoning, which currently lacks any in-archetype way to get cards out of hand. Since they'll be carrying Paula for that, it'll be nice to be able to use Paula and one of the Black Knights to call out another Black Knight, not for any sort of value, but to shuffle your deck after you've returned CNTs to it. You could potentially carry better materials and better targets to get more value out of it, but being able to do this shuffle without bogging the deck down without any out of archetype cards is the most notable part.

Sky King, Aras
Card Number: 2020GB01-007 ★★★
Faction: Volnar
Card Type: Unit
Level: 2
Attribute(s): Wind, Warrior
ATK: 4
HP: 4
STK: 2
Effect: ■ When you [Genesis Summoning] this, recover 1 life.
[Defender] (At the end of your attack phase, you may move it from the offensive zone to the defensive zone.)
Flavor Text: I will not allow the powerless to cry in front of me.

A very similar card to Albafort, giving you a heal on Genesis Summon, but having a more defensive function with Defender. Being a Level 2 its also easier to access, particularly for Paula. A decent defensive addition to the deck's lower end.

Next up are 4 new cards Ikeda posted to the Card Kingdom, including the reveal of Starter Deck 2's Midas G Goldberg and a powerful new Crimenauts Event!

Midas G. Goldberg
Card Number: 2020GS02-012
Faction: ATLAS
Card Type: Unit
Level: 1
Attribute(s): Keyman, Darkness
Attack: 3
HP: 4
Strike: 1
Effect: ■ "Merchant of Death" When you successfully perform [Abyssal Summoning], you recover 1 life.
Flavor Text: To my dear employees of Guns & Gold! We are not traitors of the earth. We are the priests of a great free economy! Come on! To economy!

The key character Midas is finally revealed, and he boasts an incredibly powerful effect! Abyssal Summoning will hardly be something you can perform every turn, let alone multiple times in a turn, so you won't be able to spam recoveries out of Midas, but even 1 extra recovery is incredibly powerful, and combined with Vastorus you can net two. Midas then sits as massive pressure on the board, threatening to recover more life for you if not dealt with, while they already have to deal with the powerful Abyssal Concerto unit you just played!

Space Criminal Organization, Crimenauts
Card Number: 2020GB01-105 ★★
Card Type: Event
Level: 2
Attribute(s): Crimenauts
Effect: [CNT] "Phantom Regeneration" Choose 1 level 1 or lower «Crimenauts» from your cemetery, and special summon it.
Use Timing: Normal
■ Look a the top four cards of your deck, choose up to one «Crimenauts» card from among them, and drive it. Put the remaining cards on the bottom of your deck.
Flavor Text: Youth. Have ambitions. For the time being, grab the globe.

A very similar consistency booster to what Robos got, this in tandem with Schrodinger's Cat and Capture Beam makes it continually more plausible to set-up the powerful Malevolus Prime + Badmans combo. For similar reasons, its CNT is also incredibly useful for being able to revive your Badmans, and if your opponent dared to go for your face before clearing, can allow you to further protect your units on that turn, not to mention cause even more uses of Devos Beam. Also of note is that anything that allows you to more reliably get Recruiter at times where he'd be powerful is a massive boost to the card, and this definitely accomplishes that.

Horror Corps, Object Elm of X Street
Card Number: 2020GB01-104 ★★
Faction: Wonderverse
Card Type: Unit
Level: 2
Attribute(s): Crimenauts
ATK: 3
HP: 5
STK: 2
Effect: [Retaliate] (When this card was attacked by your opponent's unit and wasn't destroyed, deal damage to that unit equal to this card's ATK.)
Flavor Text: Crimenauts break the law and solve everything with violence. Spreading less addictive drugs to planets dominated by drug organizations and destroying them, invading a dictator's planet to free the people and open up markets, etc...you can do whatever you want.

Another Crimenauts reveal, another defensively slanted card! It combines very well with Badmans, and we're getting more and more ways to see that card and reuse it so that feels pretty reliable. I'm starting to feel like Sudden Wormhole will make for a powerful tool in Crimenauts, able to redirect an attack on Badmans over to your high HP unit, and all the better if its something with natural Retaliate like this!

Yomajin Front & Volnar Allied Troop
Card Number: 2020GB01-030 ★
Faction: Volnar
Card Type: Unit
Level: 0
Attribute(s): Warrior, Military
ATK: 1
HP: 5
STK: 1
Flavor Text: "I've loved reincarnation since I was young. To be honest, I think its wrong to bring a gun into this kind of world. I'm convinced of that. But, if we did, we would just be baggage to Shiori..." Yamada, commander of the Yomajin Front's Volnar dispatch unit

And still on defensively slanted units, we have one in Volnar! This is the first we've seen of anything so defensively slanted at Level 0, and 5 HP makes for a very difficult wall to get over, even more so if you're able to support it, perhaps with Yomajin Front events, all too fitting of the card's name.

Interestingly, this unit only has 8 stat points, despite Level 0s getting 9. I originally thought being so extremely defensively slanted might cost a stat point, but after another reveal later today, it seems more likely that Warrior is one of the taxed attributes that costs 1 stat point.

Our last batch of reveals are a ton of ones Ikeda put up on twitter last night, to early this morning. We have a ton new Abyssal Summoning, ATLAS, and Wonderverse cards, so let's get into it!

ATLAS Army Normandy Exercise
Card Number: 2020GB01-046 ★
Faction: ATLAS
Card Type: Event
Level: 2
Attribute(s): Military, Wild Force
Effect: Use Timing: Normal
■ Choose a level 2 or lower «Military» card in your damage zone, and add it to your hand.
Flavor Text: The joint exercise in Normandy, which had the goal of a landing operation on the eastern Mediterranean coast, was successful. The operation to recapture the sacred land has begun...!
---
The discord gathering helped us create a list of unrevealed cards, so we can announce new cards every day until release day! Thank you! Let's start immediately. This is "ATLAS Army Normandy Exercise". Also, please pay attention to the flavor text!

(Source)

Mentioned this card earlier with Captain Liberty, but this is a very powerful support card for Military! Not quite as powerful as Schrodinger's Cat, but it still nets you a heal and a new card out of a toolbox in hand, so its very powerful. Doesn't even contribute to your CNT limit to boot! The one big downside is it adds to hand, so its not useful in Apprentice. A shame too, since it could've been handy for the Masurao deck. Maybe some Ruler in the future with higher Energy will be able to use the Masurao archetype in the future, and will be able to use this card in that way.

Dimensional Navigation Ship, ARK
Card Number: 2020GB01-042 ★★
Faction: ATLAS
Card Type: Event
Level: 1
Attribute(s): Military
Effect: [CNT] Play this.
Use Timing: Normal
■ Choose 1 level 1 or lower «Military» unit in your cemetery, and add it to your hand.
Flavor Text: ARK. An Avenger's ark where those whose world was destroyed by the Exvaders gather. They pursue the Exvaders, and appear over the Atlantic Ocean. They offer to fight with the ATLAS army.
---
New card revealed! Today is an ATLAS army festival! "Dimensional Navigation Ship, ARK". The CNT increases your hand. Together with Normandy, which was revealed earlier, ATLAS has quite a lot of hand refilling. An endless hand, is it possible with 2 energy a turn...? Is that the theme of ATLAS?!

Level 0 is more important than you can imagine!

(Source)

Another powerful support card for Military! One of the valid targets for this is Daring Trooper, with the powerful Energy Boost effect, which can get you back even the energy you used on this card itself.

G&G Unmanned Tank, Turret Turtle
Card Number: 2020GB01-047 ★
Faction: ATLAS
Card Type: Unit
Level: 1
Attribute(s): Military
ATK: 4
HP: 4
STK: 2
Flavor Text: Due to the Exvaders, a dome-shaped barrier with a diameter of 1000 kilometers appeared in the Middle East. Since then, it has become a territory contolled by the Exvaders, and the situation inside remains unclear.

Banshee
Card Number: 2020GB01-054 ★
Faction: ATLAS
Card Type: Unit
Level: 0
Attribute(s): OWL, Apparition, Darkness
ATK: 2
HP: 4
STK: 1
Flavor Text: That day, the earth became foreign. Legendary individuals began to appear. Some are legendary beings, and some have offered to fight alongside mankind.

Corporal, Champ Tiger
Card Number: 2020GB01-051 ★
Faction: ATLAS
Card Type: Unit
Level: 1
Attribute(s): Warrior, Military, Wild Force
ATK: 5
HP: 2
STK: 2
Flavor Text: Wild Force's number one warrior and a battle addict who violates orders. On the other hand, he is the record holder for the number of "Anchor Honor Awards" given to those who save the lives of allies.

Support the frontline of the ATLAS army. Excellent vanilla units.

(Source)

Turret Turtle is the 4/4/2 vanilla stat line-up we've seen before with Volnar's Bulltaurus, and 4/4 seems like a valuable statline in general. Its also a target for both Normandy and ARK.

Banshee is a nice defensively slanted Darkness unit, but Dokkalfar seems better in almost every respect. However, it may allow you to more consistently activate Shadow of Hades's effect, so it may be valuable for that reason.

Lastly, Champ Tiger looks like it has very nicely allocated stats. There aren't many Level 1s who even have 5 ATK, and Tiger carries 2 STK on top of that. Feels very similar to Kamaitachi Joe, and is both a Wild Force for Big Owl's draw effect, and a Military for Normandy and ARK. Even has the Warrior attribute, for potential use in Genesis Summoning strategies!

Suppression Fire
Card Number: 2020GB01-061 ★
Faction: ATLAS
Card Type: Event
Level: 0
Attribute(s): Firepower, Military
Effect: Use Timing: Immediate (Set this, and you may play it at any time)
■ Choose 1 enemy unit, and deal 2 damage to it.
Flavor Text: Advice! The appeal of ATLAS cards is, of course, unit destruction due to effect damage. Let's make a control deck by using 4 "Guns & Gold Weapons Arsenal" and combining it with Wonderverse's Firepower cards!

Ironstorm
Card Number: 2020GB01-052 ★
Faction: ATLAS
Card Type: Event
Level: 1
Attribute(s): Firepower, Military
Effect: [CNT] Play this.
Use Timing: Immediate (Set this, and you may play it at any time)
■ Choose 1 or more enemy units, and distribute 2 damage among them.
Flavor Text: For the recapture of the sacred land, new weapons are tested and new recruits are trained. At that time, a huge shadow is spotted approaching the advance base, Cyprus.

Important! The focus of ATLAS army is...refilling hand and removal by effect damage! Being able to take out opposing units on the opponent's turn with effect damage is powerful! In particular, "Suppression Fire" will be a popular card.

ATLAS is for the control lover!

(Source)

Suppression Fire will probably be a very important card. Free, no CNT, and while it only deals 2 damage. ATLAS has tons of cards that can increase that. Even 1 extra point will increase its range a lot, and this default mode can take out any of the Abyssal Summoners. (We'll get to that later) Of course, its also a Military and thus a target for Normandy.

Ironstorm is initially strictly worse in the vast majority of scenarios, and even costs 1 more and contributes to the CNT limit. However, it benefits much more off of damage buffing, as its able to spread out its damage when it reaches any excess so nothing is wasted.

Also, on Ironstorm, this card was previously shown to be in Starter Deck 2, but the High Rarity Pack seemed to imply all Starter Deck cards are exclusive? However, this print has a different flavor text, so perhaps the High Rarity Pack has both the GS02 and GB01 versions of Ironstorm, with their differing flavor text.

I didn't even feel that!
Card Number: 2020GB01-060 ★
Faction: ATLAS
Card Type: Event
Level: 0
Attribute(s): Military, Wild Force
Effect: Use Timing: Set this, and you may play it when an ally unit is damaged.
■ Choose 1 ally unit. That unit heals as much damage as it was dealt. (Even if it took lethal damage and is destroyed, it will heal before being placed in the cemetery)
Flavor Text: ♪♪ Oh, the Wild Force, the steel arm that crushes evil. Gatling, the power of the wild, the vaporization bomb of nature. Wisdom is 10% and power is 50%. The remaining 70% is courage. ♪♪

However, ATLAS does not have a defensive event to protect the player! That is a clear weakness! Its an army that defends itself with effect damage...

There is a powerful unit defense card though. Can this protect your defensive zone for now?

Also, pay attention to the flavor text!

(Source)

An extremely powerful combat trick! Arguably the strongest we've seen so far. Has really powerful combinations in Yomajin Front, particularly with the "Obstacle" units. Using it to make the beefy Orochi stick around is strong too. And of course, in Wonderverse, it can be combined with their Retaliate units to turn the battle around on the opponent. All around a powerful card!

Nosferatu Army
Card Number: 2020GS02-010
Faction: ATLAS
Card Type: Unit
Level: 1
Attribute(s): OWL, Apparition, Darkness
ATK: 2
HP: 2
STK: 1
Effect: [Immortal] (Rulers who can pay energy costs, can pay the cost and summon cap to normal summon this from the cemetery)
■ This cannot be put to a defensive zone.
Flavor Text: Legendary beings who participated in the Western military alliance, "ATLAS". They called themselves the "Old World League", or OWL for short.

Included in Starter Deck "Demon Dragon Summoning". Nosteratu Army

If you use it aggressively, it will add a lot to your deck.

(Source)

A brand new keyword! Completely exclusive to Energy Rulers, but its a powerful one, being infinitely reusable. Any time it would do just as well as the options in your hand, it expands your options quite a bit. In general, a card like this adds a ton to decision making, and a controlling deck like Darkness is sure to appreciate it a lot.

Abyss Master, Aligieri
Card Number: 2020GB01-005 ★★★★
Faction: Volnar
Card Type: Unit
Level: 2
Attribute(s): Wizard, Darkness
Attack: 3
HP: 2
Strike: 1
Effect: [TD] Put the top card of your deck into your cemetery.
[Abyssal Summoning] Normal: Send this card to the cemetery. If you do, choose 1 unit from your cemetery with [Abyssal Concerto], and you may Special Summon it by fulfilling its conditions.
Flavor Text: Stare into the abyss. On the other side is the mystery of life.

(Source)

The 2nd Abyssal Summoning card revealed! First thing to note is that the Abyssal Summoning effect has changed since we were shown Priest quite a while back. It now has an "If you do" clause separateing putting it to cemetery and activating the rest of the effect, so if your opponent destroys the summoner in response, you won't be able to Abyssal Summon. Cards like Flying Shield and "I didn't even feel that!" will be very important to making sure your summons are successful. This change also applies to Priest, so it doesn't get any edge in that respect.

Aligieri is better than Priest in every respect. It loses in ATK and STK but these stats are frankly irrelevant for a Summoner, and in exchange it gets to mill 1 on play to help set up your summons. A Darkness Summoner like Aligieri already is able to use itself as material, and considering the highest condition is 5, adding even 1 mill like this is a really big deal.

Deathsallier
Card Number: 2020GS02-003
Faction: Volnar
Card Type: Unit
Level: 2
Attribute(s): Dragon, Darkness
ATK: 5
HP: 5
STK: 2
Effect: [Abyssal Concerto] Condition: Put 2 «Darkness» from your cemetery to the bottom of your deck. (Units with [Abyssal Concerto] can also be summoned normally)
■ During the turn this was [Abyssal Summoning], it gets [Defender]. (At the end of your attack phase, you may move it from the offensive zone to the defensive zone.)
Flavor Text: The dragons who follow the demon dragon are all aiming for that position.

Demonic Dragon of Shadows, Shadraker
Card Number: 2020GB01-008 ★★★
Faction: Volnar
Card Type: Unit
Level: 2
Attribute(s): Dragon, Darkness
ATK: 4
HP: 5
STK: 1
Effect: [CNT] Choose 1 of your energy, and activate it.
[Abyssal Concerto] Condition: Put 2 «Darkness» from your cemetery to the bottom of your deck.
Flavor Text: Demonic dragon. An evil dragon who plots to destroy the world's reason.

A unit with "Abyssal Concerto". The cost of the special summon is different for each unit.

To make it easier to understand, if you compare it to Yu-Gi-Oh, the unit with "Abyssal Summoning" is the Tuner, and the unit with "Abyssal Concerto" is the Synchro monster.

(Source)

Two new cheap Abyssal Concerto units! With these it really comes down to if you want a CNT that sets itself up, in exchange for its Abyssal Concerto not doing anything except activating effects like Midas. On the other hand, Deathsallier from the Starter Deck lacks CNT but has better stats and the useful effect Defender. Fitting both would be tough, so players will probably need to decide between them.

Unusually Talented, Johan
Card Number: 2020GS02-011
Faction: ATLAS
Card Type: Unit
Level: 1
Attribute(s): Wizard
Attack: 2
HP: 2
Strike: 1
Effect: [Abyssal Summoning] Normal: Send this card to the cemetery. If you do, choose 1 unit from your cemetery with [Abyssal Concerto], and you may Special Summon it by fulfilling its conditions.
Flavor Text: The wizards survived. In London. In Prague. In Samarkland. And a new generation of wizards begins to cast spells.

(Source)

Yet another Abyssal Summoner! Very much appreciated that the Starter Deck has 2 itself, makes the Starter Deck much more functional in itself. Johan in itself is fantastic, being a Level 1 Summoner, which opens up your Energy for a lot more potential plays. Plus, as an ATLAS card, it opens up the potential ability to use Abyssal Summons in non-Volnar builds. The big drawback is its not a Darkness itself, so it requires 1 more Darkness in cemetery to activate then other Summoners.

Interdimensional War
Card Number: 2020GB01-026 ★
Faction: Volnar
Card Type: Field
Level: 1
Attribute(s): Magic
Effect: [CNT] Put this into your field zone.
■ When you successfully [Genesis Summoning] or [Abyss Summoning], destroy this. If you do, recover 1 life.
Flavor Text: Volnar was a world that had been endlessly fighting amongst itself, but when the Exvaders attacked, they ironically evolved into a collaborative world where various races take advantage of each other's strengths.

Abyssal Summoning + Genesis Summoning support card! I'll give you a clue to the comebacks you can do. "Two copies were flipped as CNT, and the special summon is successful. The effect of the summon and Interdimensional Wars combine to recover 3 life at once!" This is a very common sight.

Even so, there are many things you can do in the 1st set...

(Source)

Spacecraft, Velocto
Card Number: 2020GB01-103 ★★
Faction: Wonderverse
Card Type: Unit
Level: 2
Attribute(s): Galaxy Heritage, Futuremen
ATK: 4
HP: 5
STK: 3
Flavor Text: The fastest fighter ship in the universe, designed and built by the space adventurer Ed who said he found the "Holy Grail". Its power is unknown. It is said that the secret of the Holy Grail is hidden within it.

"I'm worried about the cards that look complex" There are beginners who say that, and that's fine.

Gate Ruler is a TCG where beginners don't need complex cards to fight advanced players!

If you don't know complex cards, you can win even without touching them.

A clone of Raguo the Ushi-oni for Wonderverse! This vanilla type seems very potent, with high STK, decent ATK, and a difficult to deal with HP.

ZAPZAPZAP!!
Card Number: 2020GB01-097 ★★★★
Faction: Wonderverse
Card Type: Event
Level: 3
Attribute(s): Firepower, Magic
Effect: [CNT] Play this.
Use Timing: Immediate (Set this, and you may play it at any time)
■ Choose 1 or more enemy units, and distribute 6 damage among them.
Flavor Text: Space rogue, zap reporter, lost earthling, and criminal organization recruiter. There was a sense of companionship among this rag-tag group.

I've been holding off on releasing this one for a long time...simple and strongest! (Did the official say the strongest?!)

Let's reveal the strongest CNT in the first environment! "ZAPZAPZAP!!"

Its super strong, so I'll also post its natural enemy.

The natural enemy is "Purification Rite". Its CNT is strong, and the usage rate is high as a general use card in Yomajin Front. It will easily be a deterrent to ZAP.

Some new vanillas revealed in a decklist Ikeda posted. Tank Type-100 is a direct clone of Turret Turtle in every respect. It seems to be a good kind of vanilla, so not surprising to see it in more attributes, and has a good attribute.

Peony also seems very good. 2 STK Level 0s are rare, and this new one being in Apparition is very nice for that deck's effects.

Blaster Cannon
Card Number: 2020GS01-016
Faction: Wonderverse
Card Type: Event
Level: 1
Attribute(s): Military
Effect: [CNT] Play this.
Use Timing: Immediate (Play this, and you may play it at any time)
■ Choose one of the following:
・Deal 1 damage to the opponent.
・Choose 1 enemy unit, and deal 2 damage to it.
Flavor Text: "You were almost taken to the Earthling camp!" said the alien who destroyed the police car. "If you have nowhere to go...why not join our organization?"

The final card for today, a Wonderverse event from Starter Deck 1. Essentially an alternate Photon Torpedo, that trades backrow removal for 2 damage to an enemy unit. This is more generically useful, but Photon Torpedo is very unique in its ability to remove a backrow at Immediate speed, so both will likely have their uses.

Finally, before we sign off for today, here are translations of Ikeda's recent tweets regarding how he plans to address problem cards when they occur.

Q: The rules are different for each ruler, so the game design seems difficult, and I think proper testing will become impossible.

A: Yes, of course. I made it after understanding this more than anyone else. Absolutely someday problems will occur. I'm not saying that irresponsibly. In the history of TCGs, every great designer has made mistakes. Even though MTG, Yugioh, and Duel Masters have made a huge amount of mistakes, players continue to play them. Its not possible that only Gate Ruler would be different. The important thing is how to deal with the problem afterwards.

(Sources: 1 2)[quote]

[quote]As for how to deal with the problem, I conducted a twitter survey half a year ago. (of course, in preparation for Gate Ruler) Which is better; power creep, restrictions, or rotation? The answer was overwhelmingly "restrictions".

When problems occur, we will deal with it with restrictions. We also have the Legend system for that. In other words, the restricted cards become Legend.

Plus, since there is a limit on the number of different Legends, it prevents decks from being filled with limited-to-1 cards.

Currently we have no plans to address problems with power creep or rotation. (We leave the possibility open in case players ask for one of those methods)

Since its a TCG for working adults, our goal is that you can still play after taking a break for half a year.
