News
September 13th's daily twitter reveal is a ★★★ ATLAS unit, Captain Zombie, which supports both Zombies and Military! This is an art that was first revealed back in May, when Gate Ruler's Summer plans were first discussed.

Starting today, we'll also be covering the daily English reveals from the European Twitter account which started on September 10th! These drop at 7 PM Eastern, so we'll be covering the previous day's reveal.

For September 12th, we have the English reveal of the Volnar Superior Rare, Vabelcion, the Battle-Forged. We got a lot of English syntax information on this one. Cost Reduction has been changed to the shorter Discount, Guardian Summon has become Sentinel Summoning, and Damage Reversal costs are now bolded to stand out more in the text.

Analysis

Captain Zombie is a non-Legend with a lot of similar function to Captain Liberty, though limited to Military and Zombie builds by nature of its cost. Beyond that, its further restricted by eating the same damage that other cards may need, unlike Captain Liberty fairly unique resource, so, for example, you're unlikely to use Captain Zombie alongside Draconoid Dreadnaught "Fuse-ikazuchi" unless you're playing it in 15. O - Overlord.

Captain Zombie is also very nice in that it covers a different specialty than Captain Liberty. While Liberty gives you strong defensive options with its Defender keyword and synergy with A7 Humpty Dumpty, Captain Zombie instead gives you slightly higher ATK and a powerful set removing ability that your opponent cannot respond to. Its not flawless set removal of course, as your opponent can still respond to the activation of his self-revival ability or the Zombie deck's other methods of reviving him, but this will still force it out early and loses effectiveness the more sets your opponent has.

In its home deck of Zombies is of course where Captain Zombie shines most. Being a unit with both Zombie and Military attributes, having it out alongside Zombie Rider will immediately pump Rider up to 5 ATK and 5 HP. Cheerleader Zombie also lets Captain Zombie reach the ever-valuable 7 ATK threshold, and if Zombie Rider is also on the board he'll be hitting for 7 ATK as well, even carrying Breakthrough!

Zombie Troll lets you easily set Captain Zombie up in your graveyard for his own revival ability or to be revived through other means, but with this set's Superior Rares we have new ways to achieve that with the discarding Discount abilities of Space Captain Ed and Fell Beast of Darkness, Ray Gargora. Ed will likely be the one of choice, with its good removal ability, disruptive CNT, and its own Damage Reversal which can allow you to play events like Schrödinger's Cat, giving the deck further toolboxing and an easy way to drag cards out of your damage zone, instead of being trapped.

All in all, Captain Zombie is an incredible card that's a sure staple for Zombie decks, and a worthy consideration for other builds carrying a solid amount of Military and a low amount of Damage Reversal costs.
